DAY 1: WEEKURI LAKE – MANDORAK BEACH – LENDONGARA HILL SUNSET

Welcome to Tambolaka, the starting point of our Best of Southwest Sumba tour! Upon arrival at the airport of Tambolaka, meet and greet with our guide, and we will begin the journey. Enjoy a delicious lunch, before heading to Weekuri Lake – a crystal-clear lake that invites you to take a dip and relax by its shores. Swim in blue-green waters, explore the gorgeous rocks and reefs, and catch sight of the ocean on the other side! Next to Weekuri Lake, you will discover Mandorak Beach, nestled between two huge rock ridges. Spend some time at this secret cove that opens up to the sparkling blue ocean. Head back to the hotel for a little rest and leisure. Your day ends at Lendongara Hill, just in time for the setting sun.

DAY 2: RUMAH BUDAYA SUMBA – RATENGGARO VILLAGE – WATUMALANDONG – TANJUNG MAREHA – BWANNA BEACH

 Savour a wholesome breakfast at the hotel. Your first visit will be to the Museum of Rumah Budaya Sumba (Sumba’s cultural centre). It is built in the style of a traditional Sumbanese house, and its surrounding grounds are dotted with Marapu stone carvings. Among other artefacts, the collection includes Ikat (Sumbanese fabric), stone and wood carvings, traditional jewellery, and a handful of everyday items. Head to the charming village of Ratenggaro in the Kodi area. Here, you will get to see the traditional high rooftops houses (the highest rooftops in all of Sumba) built by hand. While some of the houses are essentially compounds, each can safely accommodate up to 50 family members. This village is one of a few traditional villages left in the area. During the harvest season, you will find most of the villagers working in the fields, with only the elders and children left behind. Next, head to a pair of peaceful and picturesque beaches – Watulandong Beach and Bwanna Beach. Enjoy a bird’s eye view of both from an elevated view point, before heading down to get your toes sandy. Walk along the clear, colourful shores. Enjoy moments of solitude. Catch the orange-pink sunset, before heading back to the hotel for dinner.

DAY 3: END OF TRIP
